Ship’s Displacement

Monday, June 22nd, 2009

You could consider something similar to a ship is more dense than water, after all,it is constructed of metal which is for certain more dense than water, but, the ship is filled with air, which is much less dense than water, and compensates the difference.

That’s how come, when a ship gets a hole in it, it sinks. The water pushes out all the air and makes the entire density of the ship bigger. When the water, metal, and air inside the ship become more dense than the water outside the ship, the ship will sink.

FLUID DISPLACEMENT

Monday, June 22nd, 2009

In fluid mechanics, displacement takes place when an physical object is immersed in a liquid, pushing it out of the way and taking its place. The volume of the fluid displaced can then be quantified (measured), and from this the volume of the immersed object can be deducted (the volume of the immersed object will be precisely equal to the volume of the displaced fluid).

The digital memory becomes “eternal”

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

At the Berkley University (California) has been set up a nanotechnology prototype system for archiving , with unlimited duration and without silicon. A recent discovery made by researchers at the University of Berkeley could extend the “maturity” of digital memory media, making them practically “eternal”. Professor Alex Zettl and his team developed a digital memory prototype able to overcome the average length of life (between 10 and 30 years) of existing memory cards, up to one billion years and whose capacity is equal with a TB (terabyte). All without the use of silicon.

Star Trek’s Warp Speed -Expert Says It May Become a Reality

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

Some researchers believe that the “warp” speed through space, (one with which we are familiar form the series of Star Trek movies), it might be possible, despite the principle of relativity which proves that the speed of light is the maximum absolute of space and time.
Making such a statement, the scientists take into account something [...]
