Samsung Electronics first mobile phone that operates on solar energy
Samsung Electronics launched its first mobile phone that operates on solar energy, the “Crest Solar” (E1107). It gives its users the opportunity to charge the battery wherever there is a source of solar energy, when sources of electricity are not available.
Through the new battery-based solar energy, with expanded capacity, the device resolve problems of users when they are faced with instability and lack of sources of electricity, particularly in rural areas.

The phone is able to offer a conversation time between 5 and 10 minutes by solar loading for an hour (measured for a solar power source of 80,000 lux, but may vary depending on the circumstances).
Moreover, charging solar panel allows users to save money and energy consumption from traditional sources of loading.
Crest Solar model comes with a compact design and essential mobile phone features such as FM radio, MP3 ringtones, games and a powerful flashlight. For user safety, the phone offers Mobile Tracker, which automatically alert each time when the SIM card is changed, or send an SOS message in an emergency. Also, there is a “false call” feature , so that users can pretend that they receiving a call to get rid of unwanted situations.
To meet the needs of various markets, Samsung Crest Solar provides local applications for several countries. For example, provide the scanning of profile for cyclists from Southeast Asia, which makes it possible to receive calls only from certain contacts in order to secure movement. Crest Solar also provides specialized applications for different religions, such as alerts for pray time.
The model will be available on several markets, including India, Europe, Southeast Asia, South Asia and South America, from June 2009
