The eyes of the sky shows the pollution

The  pollution of air particles  is measured, according to standards, at ground level. Unfortunately, many of the most polluted areas of the world, are in countries  that  currently  are in developing process , which may not allow such complex monitoring . To address this problem, Sundar Chirstopher from the University of Alabama, used precisely those territories to collect data as a result of satellite measurements, and using conventional means, from the ground.

Using Terra and Aqua Satellite of NASA, Sundar Chirstopher and his team examined 20 cities with populations over 10 million inhabitants. In 15 of them, pollution levels were five to ten times higher than the World Health Organization tables indicate. Based on these comparisons, the specialist found a way to determine the air quality of the surface land only using data from satellites, technology currently used in research to determine the movement of pollution from one region to another.

Meanwhile,on  ground, other scientists have discovered new methods for tracking pollution of refineries. Environment engineer  Shankar Chellam  from the University of Houston, placed filters around the city to collect the metals released by petroleum refineries. Concentrations with the highest level of pollution were recorded during the refineries have reported problems with equipment.
