Torque Screwdriver
What does torque mean for an electric screwdriver ?
Basically the more torque you have under heavy load the more effective so when you start screwing into a tight grained piece of wood screw up the dial and back off on soft materials.
What’s the purpose of torque screwdriver ?
It allows you to tighten a screw to a specified torque. Too loose and it won’t hold well enough, and too tight could damage it.
Generally, screws on sensitive equipment will need to be tightened to a specific torque.
Is the torque the same on a bolt with a screwdriver and on a rope attached to a screwdriver ?
The answer is yes.The way to get more torque is to use a screwdriver with a fatter grip or better yet, get a wrench and use it on the screw driver to increase your leverage.
Which force would produce the greatest torque on the shovel ?
a. You press straight down on the shovel so it stays straight up and down.
b. You twist the shovel like a screwdriver.
c.You push to the right on the shovel’s handle so it tilts toward the ground.
d. They all produce equal torque
In general the correct answer is c, but depends on how hard you push and twist though. The odds are that you would not b,e able to twist hard enough though.
Torque = force x distance. There is a big distance between the shovel head and the handle, so requires little force to create a big torque. There is a very small distance between the outside and inside of the shovel handle so to get an equal amount of torque, you would have to twist really hard.
