Pneumatic Torque Wrench
A pneumatic Torque wrench is a Planetary Torque multiplier or a “Gearbox”. This gearbox is mated to a Pneumatic air motor. At the end of the “gearbox” is a reaction device that’s utilized to absorb the torque. This permits the manipulator of the tool to utilize the pneumatic torque wrench with very little effort.
These planetary torque multiplier Gearboxes possess multiplication ratios up to 4000:1 The correct Torque output is adapted by controlling the air pressure. These tools are in the first place utilized anyplace precise torque is necessitated on a nut and bolt, or where a stubborn nut needs to be removed.
The Pneumatic torque wrench is occasionally confused with a standard impact wrench, because it looks similar, but it in reality a entirely different tool. A pneumatic Torque wrench is driven by continuous Gearing, and not by the Hammers of an impacting wrench.
This is why a pneumatic torque wrench has very little vibration, and an extreme amount of repeatability and accuracy.

One Response to “Pneumatic Torque Wrench”
I bought Chicago Pneumatic CP797-6 1-Inch Drive Super Duty Impact Wrench with 6-Inch Anvil to change commercial truck tires, and it did not take long after opening the box to figure out that it has additional t enough power to break any truck lug nut loose. I was a little concerned about air consumption, since the impact comes with a 1/2″ FPT inlet, but have had no problem running this off my 80 gallon 175 psi, 19 cfm @ 90 psi compressor using 1/2″ hose and 3/8″ quick connect fittings.
